Sticky Asian Style Chicken Wings

These sticky, sweet, and savory Asian-style chicken wings are perfect for game nights, parties, or a delicious snack. They are crispy, coated in a flavorful glaze, and can be made in the oven or air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Wings:

  • 16 split chicken wings (drummettes and wingettes)
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Avocado oil spray (or any cooking spray)

For the Sticky Glaze:

  • ¼ cup sweet Thai chili sauce
  • ¼ cup ketchup

Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry using a paper towel. This helps them crisp up better. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Lightly spray with avocado oil.

2️⃣ Bake or Air Fry:

Oven Method: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the wings in a single layer and bake for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) or higher.

Air Fryer Method: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the wings in a single layer and air fry for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and fully cooked.

3️⃣ Make the Sticky Glaze: While the wings are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ketchup and sweet Thai chili sauce, stirring for 2 minutes until it bubbles and slightly thickens. This step enhances caramelization and deepens the flavor.

4️⃣ Toss & Coat: Add the cooked wings to the skillet and toss until fully coated in the sticky glaze. Let them cook for another 1-2 minutes to allow the sauce to caramelize onto the wings.

5️⃣ Serve & Enjoy: Transfer the wings to a serving plate and garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds (optional). Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Extra Crispy Wings: Patting the wings dry before seasoning helps remove moisture, making them crispier.
  • Spicier Version: Add 1 tsp of Sriracha or red pepper flakes to the glaze for extra heat.
  • Serving Ideas: Pair with a side of ranch, blue cheese dressing, or a squeeze of lime for added freshness.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
