Ingredients

Scale

For the pasta:

  • 12 oz rotini (or any pasta of choice)
  • Water for boiling
  • Salt for pasta water

For the beef mixture:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for browning beef)

For the sauce:

  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the cheesy topping:

  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the rotini and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil if needed. Brown the ground beef with diced onion and minced garlic until the beef is fully cooked and onions are softened. Drain any excess fat.

3️⃣ Prepare the Sauce: Add tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder to the beef mixture. Stir well and let it simmer on low heat for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4️⃣ Combine with Pasta: Add the cooked pasta into the beef sauce, stirring until the pasta is fully coated and everything is evenly mixed.

5️⃣ Add the Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover the skillet and let it sit for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts. For a golden, bubbly cheese topping, place the skillet under the broiler for a few minutes until the cheese is slightly browned.

6️⃣ Serve: Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Customize the cheese: Try adding a mix of cheeses like mozzarella or pepper jack for extra flavor.
  • Make it creamy: Stir in 1/4 cup of heavy cream or sour cream before adding the cheese for a richer texture.
  • Add crunch: Top with crispy turkey bacon bits or crushed potato chips for a fun twist.
  • Spice it up: Add a dash of hot sauce or red pepper flakes for a little heat.
